End the federal student loan program already. College is crazy expensive because colleges know they can charge as much as they want.

How DARE you guys have only about 50k subs on this podcast?! You guys have really great conversations and thought processes, quality-wise, you can compete with the "big boys" of podcasting, I just want you to remember that! Hope you had/get bigger metrics, but either way you guys are doing a good job!

How many people would have went to college if they knew this was going to happen?

This isn’t a question of helping college educated vs non educated. The gov is telling us to be happy eating beans while they serve steak dinners on a silver platter to the military, mega farms, banks, and corporations.

I agree with most but every other form of load you can go bankrupt removing that has broken the collage system

I agree that without addressing the core problem, it’s a stupid policy. With addressing the core problem? Not a stupid policy.

I agree with this. Argued about this with a coworker recently who supports it and had loans. Said I’m just being selfish for not liking the policy. It’s like....dude so are you for just wanting yours paid for. You’ve made way more than me for years. It’s not that I’m against doing something about the loan issue. I just think the current discussion is the wrong way to do it

That’s how I felt during democratic term. Everyone is living off my tax because I made too much?? 😓

Can we all agree that losers with student loan debts don't deserve anything but shit and insults hurled at them for the horrible desicions they made on the past based on terrible advice they got from the losers they so deeply trusted and admired.

I love the conversations guys but I laughed so hard when Ben said is this the best use of 650billion or w/e it is, I don’t think the government can spend any amount of money correctly or appropriately

Complete bailout seems crazy. Partial bailout is reasonable (ish). And college rates NEED to go down. Or people just need to go into trade skills and training.

crushing debt on the scale that we have it creates a widespread feeling of scarcity. charlie, you said you would've spent more money on alcohol and eating out if you didn't feel as burdened by your debt. that kind of direct spending has direct benefits for the economy

the puritanical emphasis on simply working hard, not being selfish and not asking for too much in return is fine on the face of it but becomes outright sinister in the broader context of our corporatist economy. within the first several months of the pandemic the money market was flooded with 5 trillion and the captains of industry were bailed out by a similar amount (note that 650 billion will wind up amounting to less than one tenth of that.) meanwhile, saving the stock market, which isn't generative of any gdp, and making the choice to bail out the richest businesses and citizens isn't nearly as good for everyone else when they're the most likely to sit on their money. i hope, at least, that you're consistent, in your critique?

The problem is guaranteed loans . Bens point is spot on, people should be able to go bankrupt for student loans. Will also make school cheaper since there is less demand. Student loan forgiveness is a bandaid from government created by the government in the first place.

Anecdotal accounts of wasteful spending from those in debt and personal accounts of people turning their life around due to student debt are not strong enough arguments against the main, majority benefit of student loan forgiveness.

However, I do agree that further efforts towards eliminating the profit-driven incentives of student loans and minimising the mechanisms that perpetuate the burdens of student debt should also be a topic of focus in this discussion.

So glad I don't have to pay to go to college in my country. I just dodged a bullet literally for free.

What are the credentials which these individuals possess? I'm kinda curious as they seem to speak on a lot of topics quite authoritatively.

Don't write checks that your ass can't cash!
I'm 33 and only have $3k debt.
Zero dollars owed for student loans and
Zero dollars of credit card debt!
My father has lived in a pit of credit card debt since I was born.
To this day he has over 7 credit cards all of which he owes massive amounts of debt on
AND he's disabled and doesn't work.
This is why I developed into being a more financially bearish individual!
