Volkswagen e-Golf (2021) - the EV that's not for sale

The all-too-familiar Volkswagen Golf is the latest model to get the electrification treatment. Using the Golf 7.5 as a base, Volkswagen has managed to create a vehicle that near-seamlessly slots into our daily regimes without requiring too much fuss from us, the end-user.

A 35.8 kWh Li-ion battery system powers a 100 kW and 290 Nm electric motor to provide a range of between 170 km and 230 km on a single charge. Charge times can take anywhere from 12 hrs when using a 3 kW charge source to as little as 40-minutes (0-80%) with a high-output 50 kW fast-charging solution.

The Volkswagen e-Golf forms the first part of VWSAs three-phase approach to an electrified future in South Africa.

I really hope they come back with an upgraded eGolf variant or a way to upgrade the battery in a few years, to keep it up to date with newer cars in 5 years. I'd happily drive mine until it literally starts falling apart, it's such a fantastic car.
