Glad to hear you've decided to keep your little get-a-way cabin! Unless, you have been given/served any formal/legal notice on what is needed to be done, i wouldn't be too concerned. Their earlier approach on the subject was spiteful and unprofessional! They tried a bullying method. Again, you can check with your local zoning to make sure you're within your legal rights. I don’t share many of the opinions expressed here about building codes and actions of the municipality, but I’m glad that you’re staying and trying to work it out. There are plenty of ways to comply with local laws and remain off grid. Septic systems; well water, and solar power are just the most obvious.
