Mac Premo was born in 1973, twenty-two years later he graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design. Armed with a BFA in illustration and animation, he moved to New York and began directing commercials. In 1999, he shifted his focus from television to carpentry.

These days, Mac is making art, animating, making some commercials and doing a bit of carpentry. He has initiated and participated in several major public art projects in Belfast, Northern Ireland as a member of OAR, a five-man collective of Belfast and Brooklyn-based artists. In addition to Belfast, his work has exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, and PS1 MOMA in Queens. In January of 2008, Pavel Zoubok Gallery hosted Mac's first solo show in New York.

He won a 2008 Emmy for a public service announcement he wrote, animated and edited for the Atlantic Avenue Artwalk, an open studio tour along South Brooklyn's main corridor, and a 2009 Emmy for a commercial he wrote, animated and edited for BAM (the Brooklyn Academy of Music). Mac is a 2008 fellow in Video from the New York Foundation for the Arts. He lives in Brooklyn, New York with his wife Adrianna and their daughter Frieda who is totally radical.
