Manually Open & Close C3 Corvette Pop Up Headlights

Yes! You can open and close C3 Corvette headlamps manually, and it's pretty easy to do.

If there's a problem with the dashboard switch or the vacuum system and you want the headlights open (up) or closed (down), all you need to do is crawl under your Vette and know where to push or pull.

In this video, I show you how.

By the way, if this is your first time attempting to open and close your Corvette’s headlight doors, be very careful so you don’t get your fingers caught in the mechanism, as it can happen with painful results.

Inherited my brother's 1976 c3... this is helpful because the headlights have not been very cooperative for me. I wanted to keep the car because it was the last moment I had with him and I want to take care of it as best as I can. ♡

You sound like me when working on my 81 Corvette. 70 years old and US Army Veteran SGT 9th Infantry Division. Life took a toll on us brother but, we’re still here! Still standing. I’ve tried everything to get headlights to function, master switch, vacuum canister etc. and it’s not the major parts but, AIR not getting in to tanks? I’ve got $20k in this car so upsetting at this point. Totally rebuilt, always something else to tweak or repair. Not cheap these days. Must do it yourself. Thanks brother

When I looked under my 69 Vette, I lubricated everything that moved. Just to assist the vacuum system a bit.

I appreciate this, my 74 drivers side gets stuck open a lot and I’m ok if I have to manually open and close to save me a $$$$ repair bill. I try not to drive at night anyway but if it has to happen, I now know what to do. Who would thing some 1 minute obscure video would be so helpful !!

Good morning C3 I have talked to you before about this video very helpful. I have another question if you don't mind? I have a 1978 silver anniversary pace car edition L82 and I'm getting ready to change valve cover gaskets. Can you tell what gaskets I should use I looked it up online and they said Fel pro. Now I'm going with your professional opinion on this question. What do you think and how thick and use cork or rubber? I would really appreciate your input on this question. This will be my first go at this project. Thanks again for your time!!!

Hello, my pop up headlights on my c3 are stuck. One is a stuck halfway down, the other fully up. How man turns on the rods do you start with?

Btw. When it’s up and locked, just pull down ?? Don’t have to release the lock ?? Mine are stuck open.
