Home - We're finally landing.

A special non-scheduled video, because it's not in my usual wheelhouse and I just like space stuff, enjoy!

New videos on the 1st and 15th of the month, and whenever else I feel like it.

Who would've thought that we'd go from riding on horseback to touching the stars in only 50 years?

*1969:*
- Led Zeppelin, the first Led Zeppelin album, is released in the United States;
- Bert and Ernie debutes on Sesame Street;
- We landed on the moon.
_Absolute surreal._

Definitely wouldn’t mind the occasional space video.

As a Floridian, this video means a lot to me. I remember growing up and watching the rockets streak across the sky every so often, hearing the sonic boom when we were at our grandparents home, as well as going to the Kennedy Space Center with my grandpa and his buddies who were working on the Saturn V boosters, telling me about the development process. I’ll never forget being surrounded by so many great feats of engineering, and always feel proud to be from both the peninsula and the United States. Hopefully we can see more space exploration in the coming days, and maybe even a voyage to Mars.

To think that all those years ago my grandfather was an engineer who worked on the Saturn V rocket engines that delivered the first men onto the surface of another celestial body for the first time in humanity's history.

Truly we stand upon the shoulders of giants.

A child who saw the Wright brothers take flight would still be alive by the time man first touch the moon.

No matter whether u support usa or ussr, the space race was something truly magnificent beautiful and a distant dream. My uncle as a child was fascinated by, gagarin, Armstrong, and apollo, Sputnik etc. He didnt become a astronaut but is a space engineer in isro . The space race showed how much beauty humanity could have achieve if we are determined enough to get it. Take out the politics and be proud of the human capability.

I love all the footage from inside the capsule itself, as unfortunately people tend to skip over that in documentaries on the moon landing. I feel it's also worth pointing out that while the "one small step" is iconic, the CBS coverage (with Walter Cronkite as anchor, of course, ) lasted 23 hours, with the BBC coverage going for 11 hours. An estimated 650 million watched the landing, making it for a time the most watched broadcast in history.

It never ceases to fill me with awe what those men were able to accomplish with the tech available to them. I've been to Houston a few times and seen the Saturn V rocket. It must have been incredible to see one launch.

“We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too.” - President John F. Kennedy.

My grandfather helped build the Apollo 11 lunar lander so thanks for making this man. Never got to meet the man and unfortunately, his official job title is lost to me. But I do know that he worked out of Grumman in NY where I still live now. It's cool to see the other comments here on their family member's contributions.

Probably my favorite thing about rocket launches is when the camera shows the U then S then A going by as the rocket lifts off. Love it every time.
