Nadat vader Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) en stiefvader Brad (Will Ferrell) in de hitkomedie Daddy’s Home continu met elkaar op de vuist gingen, lijken ze in dit vervolg eindelijk de strijdbijl begraven te hebben. Samen bereiden de mannen een gezellig kerstfeest voor hun kinderen voor. Als Dusty’s vader (Mel Gibson) en Brads vader (John Lithgow) ten tonele verschijnen, komen de familieruzies echter snel weer boven drijven.
