It seemed like a bad dream at the time. Watching the highlights 20+ years later, you can tell Jimmy Johnson just wasn't there, he was already done. Marino's legs were totally shot and with all of the injuries to the defense and offensive line, they stood no chance against the Jaguars.

Jim Kelly and Dan Marino were good friends and big rivals in the 80s and 90s. Their careers had similar endings too. The last NFL games for both Kelly and Marino were losses to Brunell and the Jaguars in the playoffs ('96 and '99). Both QBs didn't finish their games either, though Kelly left due to a knee injury, while Marino was just benched in this game due to the blowout.

Wow as a lifelong Denver Broncos fan of football, I had no idea this is how Marino's great career ended. We in Colorado watched in agony as Elway carried his team to three Super Bowls and lost, that last one against the 49ers was brutal.
