The Achaemenids - Epic Iranian Music

Показать описание
The Achaemenids were the dynasty who supplanted the previous Median Empire, and established the first Persian Empire in Iranian history, called the Achaemenid Empire. The text being sung is taken from what we call the DNa inscription (Darius Naqsh-e Rustam Inscription). It is the inscription found on his tomb in the royal Naksh-e Rostam necropolis.
Keep in mind that this isn't actual Ancient Iranian music or anything even remotely resembling it—the music of Ancient Iran is completely lost to us, and this is a modern symphonic piece using modern Iranian instruments as well as a Western string ensemble. While a good representation of modern Iranian music, it is by no means meant to be taken for the music of the time of the Achaemenids.
Lyrics transliterated:
Baga vazraka Auramazdā hya imām
Būmim adā hya avam asmānam
Adā hya martiyam adā hya
Shiyātim adā martiyahyā
Hya Dārayavaum xšāyaϑiyam akunauš
Translation:
A great god is Ahuramazda,
Who created this earth,
Who created yonder sky,
Who created man,
Who created happiness for man,
Who made Darius king.
