Just 2 add. Going the 2 test route might benefit someone on gaining the knowledge from the tests instead of a broken down version of the 2. In someway it secures you do not only a thing or two but all for CCNET and CCNA. In the end of the day you don't want to get by a test. You want to make sure you pass with flying colors so it reflects in the workforce. Trevor after so much online research on how to attain certification. I finally hit YouTube for this and well I love it so far. Good info. Appreciate it, I'm pretty sure others do as well.

Thanks for clearing up the exam differences! Makes more sense to take the tiered approach. Same cost in the end, cant beat that.

Eric Fernandez: Your youtube settings do not let me reply back to you directly in a comment. The answer to your question is what would you like to do with your career? Obtaining a CCENT will allow you to get in the Cisco industry, having a degree will not. I am bias though because I have 2 CCNPs and am a major Cisco nerd. I always say go the Cisco track!

I'm a newbie when it comes to networking. As a Electronic Engineering student i also wish to persue certification in Networking (CCNA and other levels).
As you mentioned, i'll begin with CCENT, but i don't really get the part where you mentioned that the certification expires within 3 years or so and we have to re-appear for it again. If you could clear that part to me, i don't get why is that so?
