Finally, a store owner on YT who isn't selling horse poo to current or prospective buyers. But yes, the LP60 remains the baseline for entry level turntables. You could always begin with a higher quality unit, but never go with anything below. It really is the perfect choice for someone new to the hobby.

Love the LP60 you hit the nail on the head with kid friendly. My 4 year old loves starting the record player and she loves vinyl

This video makes me feel much better about only having an LP60 as a record player

Appreciate your upfront delivery, especially when you admit from the outset that you sell the product you are discussing. My issues with vinyl arent really around the gear - its the outrageous price of new vinyl here in Oz and the storage issues as a collection grows. Back in the day, I kept mine in plastic milk crates - not the most elegant of solutions but a godsend on moving day. Thanks for the video.

Love the honesty. Generally seems lacking on YouTube. And our society for that matter. Thanks for what you do.

I got this for my daughter a few months ago for her birthday. Well first I got her an Insignia turntable for around the same price, it had a counterweight, antiskate, an off switch, seemed pretty solid. But 3 days later the Off switch broke, but in a way that it wouldn’t turn ON! I returned, got another and 3 days later IT HAPPENED AGAIN! So I got her an LP-60 and she loves it, listens to it almost every day and has gotten into buying records. Good to know that even without a counterweight the stylus still doesn’t damage records. Especially good to know in case she ever sneaks some of my records into her room, haha!

You should make clear that you're reviewing the current AT-LP60X model, not the original AT-LP60 which was discontinued in 2019. Wal-Mart also confusingly sells the AT-LP60X bundled with speakers as the AT-LPGO (that's the word "go", not the number 60!).

Don't forget U-Turn! Their $200 turntable (and beyond) are incredible value and they are an exceptionally well run US design/build company. We need more of this model. Thanks for your channel. Love the vintage coverage. Most excellent.

The Audio Technica LP60 is THE turntable for ANYONE who is rediscovering vinyl, just getting into vinyl or needs a second turntable. Paired with powered speakers such as the Edifier R1280DB, this is the perfect turntable for a college dorm room or small office. This table really sells itself. The simplicity is an aspect that many people enjoy! Great video!

My wife got me one several years ago when I first started getting back into vinyl and it has been great! It is now my basement turntable as I have upgraded but still works fine and sounds surprisingly good.

I had one of these. I was very happy with it. My sister has it now. She loves it. I recommend it to everybody getting started and everyone using the Retro style record players.

I bought the Audio Technica LP3, upgraded the cartridge to a VM95E and it sounds tremendous, it is an entry level but it has everything you need, feels sturdy and with a cork or decent felt platter mat it is full of detail and a nice warm sound that doesn't make your ears tired.

Glad you mentioned the U-Turn Orbit in the link section. I don’t think anything can touch their entry level model for $200 and made in the USA! I live in MA and want to go and see their base of operation.

Totally agree with this video. I had been out of the vinyl world for decades, but needed an affordable option so I could listen to vinyl test pressings earlier this year. I researched it thoroughly before purchasing, and every single one of your pros and cons is spot-on. I plan on upgrading to a more expensive deck this month, but will be keeping the LP60 as a small, portable option. Thanks for the organized, straight-forward rundown, and for reassuring me that I made a good choice!

I just put together a vintage system for my daughter! I couldn’t see buying a substandard cheapie turntable that they’re selling now for $500! I got her a Yamaha YPD4 and put a nice Grado blue cartridge on it! Had to replace the Dust cover but all in probably spent $250 on everything! That’s a direct drive turntable and it will work for her for many years! I matched it with a Kenwood receiver vintage as well as 1990 Polk audio speakers! It sounds great, and she is thrilled with it, and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg! If the whole system blew up tomorrow I wouldn’t really be freaked out! I’ll say I probably spent $350-$400 total for a totally working and sounding great set up!

My favorite vintage amp was a Kenwood Eleven GX I picked up in Japan in 1979 while in the U.S. Navy watching Russians during the cold war. Ironically, I blew it during a production of Jesus Christ Superstar performed by the 63-member Russian Rock Opera on our high school stage in 1990 after the fall of the Soviet Union when the Akademik Shirshov, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Vitus Bering explorations made their first historic port of call in Cordova, Alaska. Do you ever come by this receiver?

I apologizes if this video request already exists but I would love to see a video on the next level up and the level up from there in the used turntable market. I have a record store and would love to point people to your videos when they come to me looking for a used low and mid price record players. Great video thanks✌

Santa got my household the AT-LPGO-BT, same as the AT-LP60XBT sold by a big box retail store, last Christmas. It is dependable! This was perfect for getting back into records for the first time since about 1990. I may upgrade in the future, now that I know how to use YouTube to balance a tonearm, etc.
