LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen: Final Review [BEST OPTION]

The LG G8X Dual Screen is the poor mans version of the foldable phone. A lot cheaper than the samsung galaxy fold, LG has created something for the masses. Is it cool enough?

Nice review thank you. I'm considering this or one of the Google pixel. I know it's two different animals.
I'm a heavy user for personal and work so I'm leaning towards this LG just because I can take off that to screen while working and travelling I'm in sales. Then I can stick it on when I need to so to me it's the best of both.

The features of the LG G8X ThinQ dual screen smartphone sets it apart from the other phones in the same segment. The dual screen is definitely what makes it worth all the difference. Taking on different tasks simultaneously without having to spend extra time or effort makes it a practical smartphone for all especially for all the multitaskers.

I got this phone after studying it for weeks and comparing it to the Galaxy Fold, which was too rich for my blood considering the cheap plastic screen that has all the problems. This is a good review but a couple of important notes: AT&T, the main carrier offering this phone with the dual case, sold out of them by Cyber Monday (3 days after Black Friday). After that, because the fine print supposedly said "while supplies last", the new orders -- still $700 -- ship without the second screen dual case, which they claim is sold simply as an accessory, and for $199.99. Most reviewers are still implying the dual screen is automatically included with the purchase, and it isn't. LG is claiming they left it up to the carriers as to whether they would bundle it or not, so if considering this fantastic game-changing phone, keep that in mind. Also important: to use the extra real-estate as part of the same screen, you need to add a third-party app from the Play store called "G8X Wide Mode" which will install the Wide Mode icon in the sub-drawer in Quick Settings (go to the pencil/edit icon in Quick Settings, look for the Wide Mode icon, and then drag it into the main Quick Settings screen). This will turn the phone into one large screen....like a window sill, that has a thick bezel running down the middle - whether portrait or landscape. The Wide Mode will work with virtually any app you want it to now. It does make it a truly immersive device, especially considering the careful detail to the audio component, the built-in DAC. I switched to LG mainly because of their retention of the headphone jack not to mention this dual screen. I consider this phone a work of art, even without the second screen. My only problem is with the substandard UI. I've been spoiled by Motorola's vivid and dynamic messaging and phone apps which apparently cannot be changed on this phone. Still, on balance, a good decision.

7:25 there is a way to keep both screens on you jist have to go through your dual screen settings. Good video and i love this phone.👍

Can we have some elaboration on the dislike of the ui? It usually comes across as an elitist nitpick. It was pretty close to stock android until updated to android 10, now it has a Samsung like flavor. Btw, I'm not saying you're an elitist, just that I'm hoping for a bit more clarification.
Background information: I've used an LG g5, g7, v30+, galaxy s5, s8, s9+, s10e, s10+, pixel 3, pixel 3a, and pixel 4

I'll buy LG as long as I get quad DAC, MQA support and headphone jack. Don't care for much else. Phones are somewhat boring but that is the future. We've been through many features that got left behind. Best features remain - sd slot, headphone jack, quad dac...
