How to upsize a jacket - Quick fix #thrifting #sewinghacks

If you ever have a jacket that fits just a little too small, heres an easy way you can upsize it to fit looser on you. This was a thrifted jacket my husband found but it was a bit too tight to be worn comfortably so I quickly upsized it before our trip to Japan. I love doing simple alterations like this that make a huge difference. I hope this sewing tip helps you out!

I've done this for a dress! It's such a great way to upsize clothes because it's easy and adds that extra bit of flare. Love it!! 🥰

I've done this on a number of garments - it works really well. You can even get away with it on somewhat more formal garments, if you choose a strip of (fake) leather or something. I got the idea originally, because I actually own a rather expensive storebought jacket with a stretch panel all along the sides and armseam.

It looks like it was designed that way. That looks great on him. I can't stand anything tight around my hips either (it always rides up in the back).

Very nice. I feel that this fabric was a good choice (green or yellow would have looked good too)
I feel that this is a wee bit more complicated if the jacket has a lining.
However I have a sweater that I will apply this to (my favourite that doesnt fit me anymore, as I grew sideways hahaha)

gonna double comment but that's probably something you can do with trousers too?
Adding a band on the outer leg seam on both sides... it would be awesome if he had pants with the same fabric on the side to match the jacket hahaha

I did this for some of my favorite t-shirts years ago, and I got so many compliments! All of my family and friends (who are, admittedly, not sewing experts at all) thought I bought the shirts like that, because I finished the bottom hem of my fabric panels to match the shirt's original bottom hem.
