⚠️UPDATE 24.02.2021. DO NOT USE THIS PACKAGE - this package will be removed. Please check following videos:

00:00 Intro

More info and support from author can be found here:

There are also some options, for ex. you can keep influxBD here or you could run one from add-on store.

Other Docker containers, such as Deluge, Plex, Emby, Sonarr, Radarr - you can keep them running or temporarily stop them until you finish installing Home Assistant package.

04:35 - If you already didn't add Syno Community repository to Package Center in Synology, you should do it next.

Following URL should be copy/pasted for repository address:

05:01 - And also, you need to enable Beta packages in Package center.

Your new instance of Home Assistant will be available on your Synology IP address, with port 8123 - for ex:

08:17 - It can take 20 minutes for preparation of your system, so no worries if you don't get login page when you open address in browser.

Rest of the step is pretty intuitive and just follow instructions on screen for basic configuration and to configure all of the integrations Home Assistant found.

BTW - there is easy way to import your old configuration from Home Assistant in Docker. If you want more information and can't wait for it (next Thursday), just ask on Discord server.

11:37 - Short MQTT installation
(Don't forget to disable MQTT in Docker or as Synology MQTT package!)

12:05 - Fast Zigbee2MQTT installation
You need to add repository - address is:

Hi Bearded Tinker,
The instructions don't work for me. I had Synology running in docker which I disabled for the installation. After the installation, it seems that the additional 3 docker containers are not created.

Thanks for your video, but I can not find a package named Hass.io in the Community source but Homeassistant core, am I something wrong?

I added the community tab and allowed the beta versions as well, but can't find the Hass.io package. The only one I see is the Home Assistant Core. Am I missing something?

When/if the Supervisor screen comes up blank and you get an associated error regarding entrypoint.js, don't panic, don't tinker. Just go back to the syno package centre and stop / restart the package. Came up as per the video after restart. There is another work-around on the project page, but was not required for me.

I'm glad I found your tutorial video on YouTube!

After the update, there are some problems:

1. Home assistant can't connect to home bridge. After querying the record, I found that it was because the legacy API login was cancelled in the new version.

2. Although you can connect to the homekit, vacuum does not appear in IOS home.

Hope you can continue to do a good video! Please update the tutorial after DSM installs hassio!

I downloaded everything and I create a user/login then it goes to the select time zone page. I select everything and hit next and I get a
192.168.1.xx:8123 says

Not sure what I did wrong.

I followed your good tutorial a couple of months ago and everything worked fine even the updates. However, the recent one from 0.118.4 to 0.118.5 is not working for me. I receive the message update failed unknown error, see supervisor. Supervisor is shown as an unsupported installation with version 2020.12.6. Any idea how to solve this?

Found that this version is not really stable (after 6 months of usage!!!). Reverted back to the basic version. How long more will this be in beta? I mean, well over a year on beta shows the lack of robustness...

My Synology 416play installed docker non-officially(because it not on the support list). So when I try to install has.io(beta), system tell me that Can’t find docker. So what can I do?

Another excellent tutorial. Well explained and confidence inspiring! I too had the issue of not seeing the Supervisor panel. It took 3 restarts for it to show. I now need to decide whether to move from my MacMini set up to either my Synology 218+ or Synology DVA3219. It's the fast restart times that are attractive with the MacMini but the hadware overhead is too much.

I cant seem to find the Hass.io package, I enabled the community source and enabled beta.

I followed the instructions in this video some months ago and it worked without any errors - it was wonderful. As it always happens, I crashed my instance of Hassio on Synology and thougt:ok, nevermind, i can do it again. But no. I uninstalled the crashed version, deleted everything, even uninstalled docker and then followed your instructions again. Home assistant and all the dockers show up and it installs pretty slowly. Then, after some 20 minutes, I can enter the hassio-frontend and everything LOOKS fine, but it isnt. The supervisor wont let me install any add-on or core-update. It says "unknown error - see supervisor". in the logs of the supervisor it then says: WARNING (MainThread) [supervisor.jobs] 'HomeAssistantCore.update' blocked from execution, system is not healthy. How is my system unhealthy and how could I "cure" it? I have no other docker and no other instances of any hassio-component running. And the strangest thing for me: it worked before. I changed nothing. Can you suggest something with that?

Another great video ... it would be interesting to see how updates are handled when using the DSM package for Home Assistant.
