What Happens When you Bring a Pet Hedgehog to the Vet?

Since Pip was just re-homed with us, we wanted to get him to the vet to make sure all was well. But there's just one problem... how do you examine a spiky ball of quills? We caught it on video!

When selecting a vet, make sure to find one that is experienced with hedgehogs. This can be hard to find in smaller towns but it's important to get the right care. We were checking on Pip's age, skin condition, the fact that some of his quills were broken and missing (stress related?), weight, and general health. We were so happy that Pip is doing well but the vet did discover one issue... a double ear infection! It is sure hard to get ear drops into a hedgehogs ears... take our word for it!
