Thanks Adam for commenting. This was very informative.

It is. They've made graphene enhanced tennis rackets allowing the rackets to have more weight at either end of the racket (to balance it) without it risking snappage in the middle. That is just one of the many uses.
It is used a lot in microbiology to make nanoneedles to directly access stuff within cells to avoid breaking the cell.

Although graphene as a material is stunning, nearly magical, maybe more important to remember that it's not the material itself which is the leap forward -- it's the recent leaps forward in our understanding of how matter & energy act at the very very tiny levels which (1) alerted us to look for these special properties in this material which really has been around us all along, just not isolated and (2) got us to look for similar configurations of other materials which also act remarkable.

Very good animation. And an even better way was illustrating graphene's abilities.

Actually graphene has an extremely high electron mobility, which means it is an excellent conductor of both heat and electricity. While super conductors are better at very low temperatures, pretty much nothing matches graphene at room temperature, even siliver. Nature Materials 6 (3): 183–191

My god! The more I hear about this wonder material, the more excited I get. Rock on, Graphene! This is goind to be amazing. I'm looking forward for the world to change.

I agree. We basically have to radically (And I fucking mean RADICALLY) rework every major government/economic structure currently in power if we ever hope to break into a prosperous future.

There are so many factors that influence this though, our social systems, mentality, even the way we think about what a career is, will have to be refined/scrapped/evolve. It's a big headache even just thinking about those I mentioned, there's still loads more I can't even think of, but you get the idea.

Graphene has started show up in batteries. Hope to see more of it; thanks to this great video, showcased some brilliant ideas.

How does it taste though?  Is it low-carb?

@lupic90 well, I stand thoroughly mistaken. You learn something everyday! Reasonably new to nanotechnology, but have for a lot of research recently, as well as covering the industrial revolution in school. Didn't really see the chances of the two being intertwined, but am glad to be proven wrong.

The stone age, the bronze era, the iron era, the graphene era...

its properties discovery is still in progress it's new material so it's being studied right now
it's still expensive anyway

But in some years this will be the best thing out there we can do so much with it!

where??
i meant that it wont be mass produced for water filters etc.
but it may be produced for circuits and possessors and screens

its amazing how it has sooo many useful properties

besides the fact that mineralizing water is pretty easy, there is a shortage of drinkable water in the world, Part of the reason states like California and NY have started or are considering recycling sewer water for drinking. This material could make drinkable water abundant for everyone is proven safe.

And rust is caused by the salt in the water, not the water itself.

I like Mawson Resources (MAW) - Very high-grade Au deposit near surface - Good jurisdiction - solid backing

search "graphene tennis racket"
and "Apple graphene batteries"
can't post links, but reasonably easy to find

Graphene is a super capacitor, which means it will charge quickly. But it will not hold a longer charge than lithium ion batteries. Super capacitors charge and drain electricity quicker.

Because at the moment the old path with silicon is sufficient and cheaper. You have to build a whole new production technology around this material.
Ten years is a short time from the first discovery of a material to a industrialized use
