Great video. Why is it that I can’t find any log furniture maker that talks about the biggest issue with making log tables, beds, chairs, etc? HOW do you SQUARE your project when using logs???

Well George, I cracked up. Dug up an old magazine from 2000 with guess who on the cover. It took me a few minutes to go “Hey, That’s George!” My how we have all aged. It is a good life.
Best wishes George.

Do a google search for peeled pine logs and you’ll find lots of sources. You can then focus in on the sizes you need and where they’re available.

This may be a silly question. Can green wood be used or just the wood be fully dry?

I always start my projects by planting the seeds for the trees that will become the furniture that my grandchildren will build.

Right now I have projects started for a bunch of furniture including, a big farmhouse dining table.

I planted an acre of red and white oaks. With those seeds planted, I just need to find myself a wife, yadda yadda yadda, and play the waiting game.

Love how that comes out. Where can one get that type of wood to make that type of furniture.

do fresh cut mesquite logs need to be dried before doing this to them and using them as table legs?

It seemed like there was a couple of millimeters gap between the tenon and the mortise. It also seemed like the tenon was a bit longer that the depth it was intended to fit in. And lastly it seemed like the "pencil sharpener" rounded the edge of the piece, producing an awkward fit. Is there not a better way to make this joint and avoid all those imperfections?

How do you get a straight cut on the end of the log that you are using as a leg for an end table?
