Professor Austin, I used the last template you provided with great results. On every job I applied I got an interview. Finally, on the third interview, I got a job offer with an increase!! Thank you so much for these great informative videos and templates!!! I am sharing these videos with all my friends and family!

I've been using her videos in my classroom the last few years to help students write better resumes (as sometimes it's important for them to hear other voices besides mine). She does a great job breaking everything down to simple terms and addresses the do's and don'ts while providing great content for viewers.

Your résumé writing template is great!! I followed the template from 2020 and I’ve been interviewed and hired for 2 different positions in 2021. My current job provided a better benefits package with a pay increase!

I am sorry for writing this late. I am currently 6 months into the role that I’ve applied using your template and inputs. I totally forgot that i used your template until a friend of mine asked me about my template! YouTube resume and your face came up lol I was like, yess it was her! I did get two job offers last October and this was a shocker after 2years of graduating and not finding a job! Also, received these offers a week before my trip to Europe! Just know I did celebrate hard in Europe! I listened to everything you said and reading my resume now…I killed that shit! LOL Thank you soooo much

I hate careers I hate the idea of selling myself to other people and dedicating my time to making money for a company that doesn't care about me

Thank you @professorheatheraustin I started searching other opportunities in Jan. 2022. In March of 2022. I found your videos and used your template. Your tips helped me land multiple interviews and ultimately my current job. I have referred friends and family to your page. I know they will not be disappointed.

Till this day you have new tips to revive different part of my resume.

Professor Austin, thank you for the resume advise. Both times I used my revised resume based on your advise it worked. Note: Color copy made it pop harder I’m sure. The job I chose I submitted the resume Wednesday night, called by 9am Thursday to interview Friday and given the job on the spot and in-process Tuesday. Thank you very much.

I can attest to the content of this video and the important points, it's pretty spot on. The one thing that other "resume tips" seems to get the wrong idea is the point that you need to create a "good looking" resume from a design perspective. And as someone who has been working as a HR lead, recruiter and Project Manager for the past 10 years and I have taken care of well over 100 resumes personally and oversees over 5000 applicants over my entire career on multiple different companies is to tell you how wrong this is.

I can assure you, unless you're applying for a designer/artist position, no HR will ever give a single crap about the design of your resume. Quite infact, a "pretty" looking resume gives out red flags if you don't do the contents properly, because if that's the case it may further emphasizes that you don't have anything to offer in relation to the job so you had to "compensate" it with pretty designs. And as Heather mentioned, your employment, career and skills summary in a paragraph or two on the header is about the single most important thing you can put on your summary, bar none. No HR will ever read everything everytime when we have dozens or hundreds of resumes on our desk or email. We look at the header and short list it. And we read the whole thing LATER.

Also, yes, quantify, summarize and describe the results of your experiences and achievements. Be confident, and list EVERYTHING that you deem appropriate to put on a resume. Have designed a website for your gaming community? write that down, been a reddit moderator with 100k+ members? write that down. It matters. A lot of people seems to think non-professional experiences don't matter for job applications. They are WRONG. I don't know you, the HR people don't know you, these small bits of achivements goes a long way of letting us know you more. And be confident, no company will ever hire someone who does not believe in themselves.

Thanks for this! My resume format that I'm using was actually the same as when I graduated on 2017. I just realized that I have so much unnecessary sections that doesn't need anymore

These videos are always so tailored to social media/HR/tech jobs. I never see resume videos tailored for research assistants, or similar fields.

Professor Heather has more bubbly than most of us, but in a couple minutes you realize its genuine, and that's cool. For whatever its worth, I filed over 100 resumes and got 1 response. I moved everything on to her Template .. and for the first time Jobot did not immediately wait list me. On a submission elsewhere I had similar success I It seems Heather has crack scanner scrutiny as well has the human review. Thanks Heather !!
