Huge thanks. If it weren’t for this video, I would have sent everything back to Ikea. The instructions / diagrams are worthless. (Makes me wonder if companies don’t care if there’s a sloppy job on instructions because they know users will go to YouTube. Money saver.) So helpful that you showed first what the finished product should look like. Thanks for the video. This is what I used:
A. #10 screws, one AND a half inch screws + one AND a quarter inch plastic anchors.
Brand: Everbilt available at Home Depot -- titled: Ribbed Plastic anchors with screws - pack of 10
* I used #10 screws, as these are the biggest that will fit through the opening in the BETYDLIG system. My wife open and closes curtains ALL THE TIME, so I used the strongest possible.

B. Electric drill, and made 3/32" holes to see if drywall would need anchors. If the small drill hits a stud, there is certainly no need for an anchor. The other two did need anchors. One of the curtain BETYDLIG did not. Where an anchor was needed I used a 3/16" bit to make the hole, and made it a little bigger if needed by creating a slightly bigger hole with that same bit. I try to make the smallest hole that will still allow me to smoothly hammer in the anchor. I use a regular screw driver (phillips)--not a drill to screw them in. I've never been able to use a drill for these things, they fall off, I do it wrong, or whatever.

C. The rubber inserts work remarkably well; they hold the rod (also from Ikea)--the thinner rod--very steady and does not slide whatsoever. This really surprised me.

I'm a total amateur and HATE doing this crap, but being the man of the house--allegedly--my wife expects me to do these things as a minimum.

1. you should have both rod holders facing out- also screw them on AFTER you attach the brackets to the wall. It makes hanging up the rods MUCH easier.
2. the screws are meant to be at the bottom and top of bracket - it causes less stress on the nail - that way the bracket "hugs" the nail in 3 places (top, left and right of nail), instead of just the two sides tightly pressing against the bracket.

You didn't show what size of screw you chose and you didn't show how to drill into the wall

You can snap the cover over the middle bracket at long as there's a tad of clearance at the bottom. It doesn't have to slide on.

That was dreadfully slow. Should’ve mentioned the lack of 2 screws not included and showed the mounting process to reiterate what size screws you need in addition to the one it comes with

Hi, I had a question for the central bracket I have very small space since I have the split ac above my window leaving me with just 2 inches of space so is it possible the bracket can be cut to size
