EPIC Cast Net Catch From Beach! ONE AND DONE #Shorts

preview_player
Показать описание
Man waded out to large school of mullet and only had to throw his cast net once to get enough bait for all the fishermen on the beach! Notice he is using a 6' cast net as anything bigger will work against you while wading.

We call this "One and Done".

Lessons I learned doing this:

1. Its super heavy
2. It will destroy your net after a while

Thankfully my father is still around. Fishing has now brought us closer and we do it more often. From reading these comments makes me realize to always cherish these moments with my dad and my son and daughter. I am 39 and things have changed so much from the way I was brought up. Sorry to hear about your fathers have passed 😢

The time was you could see massive clouds of schools of mullet along S. Beach, Miami. I remember the life guard was a pro at casting nets. A few of the locals bring bring their nets for him to throw. Rarely did it take more than just 1 throw to fill several 5 gal buckets. Those days are long gone after they dredged the beach. I remember seeing "fins" on the farside around the mullet. It was dolphins then not sharks, atleast thats what the life guard said they were. At 7 years old, you didnt question the life guard!

Kinda deep to chasing in the water. Sharks often hit bait pods like that along the beach. Not saying you shouldn’t, but it was a bit risky. With that much bait around, probably not necessary

I once had a haul like that of white perch with my cast net off a boat pier at night under a light. I could barely pull the net out of the water.

That's a lot of mullet. There's a spot next to the Jandy Bridge at Marco Island. It's a little cove where the mullet bed down at night and move out after sunrise.
The shallows are full of clams so we all have wading shoes. I once, landed on a couple of SNOOK. Their gills are like razors and they blew out 2 holes in my net.
Glad I stopped by the bait shop and picked up some live hand picked shrimp for bait.
My boys were 7 & 12 so I taught them how to fix a cast net with 20# mono.

Can you believe I caught two of those in my shad net. All the way in Marengo Co Alabama. They were along the bank wall of a fairly new man made cove type of marina that was once a hay field.
