Multi-Family Structure Fire in Coachella

On Monday, May 29th, at around 1 PM, firefighters responded to 911 calls of an apartment on fire in the 50600 block of Suncrest Street in Coachella. The first on-scene engine company officer reported heavy smoke and fire visible from the roof of a large two story apartment complex. One additional engine and one truck company were requested, along with a breathing support unit. After about 40 minutes, the fire was contained to the apartment of origin, which was destroyed. There was significant water damage to two additional apartments, and the American Red Cross was requested to assist a total of 17 displaced people. One civilian suffered a minor injury but declined any treatment. One firefighter, also with a minor injury, was transported to an area hospital where they were treated and released that same day.
