Gion is Kyoto's most famous geisha district, located around Shijo Avenue. It is filled with shops, restaurants and ochaya (teahouses), where geiko and maiko (geiko apprentices) entertain.

The place is enriched by the high concentration of traditional wooden merchant houses. Due to the fact that property taxes were formerly based upon street frontage, the houses were built with narrow facades only five to six meters wide.

We start the video from the magic Hojo Rock garden. The Hojo is most famous for its rock garden whose rocks are said to resemble tigers and cubs crossing through water.

We could not miss a stop in the best Matcha bar, where we tried a matcha tea, matcha tiramisu, and matcha ice-cream (the place is found in google as MACCHA HOUSE).

We continue our evening walk in the Gion district, where without the crowd of the daily tourist, we could enjoy better the little shop and some of the most iconic Kyoto spot.

At the end of the walk, we are lucky enough to spot a real Geisha walking super fast....
