Bach - Cantata Ich habe genung BWV 82 - Mortensen | Netherlands Bach Society

The way that mortality was viewed in the eighteenth century is expressed wonderfully in 'Ich habe genung', performed by the Netherlands Bach Society for All of Bach. Death was seen as a deliverance from the earthly vale of tears, and as a chance to unite with your creator. So rather than being heart-rending, the music exudes a subdued melancholy.

Netherlands Bach Society
Lars Ulrik Mortensen, harpsichord and direction
Thomas Bauer, bass

Bravo! Wonderful interpretation! Special mention to the solo oboist who makes me feel the presence of my recently deceased wife, Lise Beauchamp, one of the great oboists in Canada whose expressive playing still resonates in my soul. Thank you for your touching performance! Merci pour votre performance si touchante! Et merci à J. S. Bach...

To me, Bach is the most sublime representation of the human soul there is. I love his music with all my ❤️ Beautiful rendition of this cantata. Kudos to the singer, conductor and all the musicians.

Thanks, Bach, for getting me calm in this awful moment that I live in my life.

Bach is far more then music! He is music itself hand in hand with God!

This is really Bach saying, "I've had enough of writing a cantata every damned week!"

The music is beautiful. The conductor puts on an act though, that I could do without.

I am deeply moved by this interpretation. I love "the father of all, Mr. J S Bach". My favorite cantatas are 56 and 82. The baritone Thomas Bauer is wonderful, my eyes filled with tears. Thanks to NBS and all the participants.

One of my absolute favorites. I believe by now i have around 20 different recordings of it, and the list is still growing. Nice interpretation on this one, and a huge "Thank You" to the NBS for publishing all their work on youtube, i do really appreciate it.

Anything or anyone that can produce a Bach makes me rethink being an agnostic. Nothing even begins to reach his brilliance and depth. Thank God for Bach.
