Mic B has a forwardness and slightly smoother top end to me. I try to make my decisions based on the tonal goal I have when capturing a source so I feel like either mic is useful. Would love to hear this same test with a ribbon mic paired with the SM57 and the 545SD.

Mic B sounded brighter but with some top-end distortion on electric, also thinner than B on acoustic.
Mic A sounded more muffled on electric, but sounded absolutely great on acoustic.
Honestly, I’m mostly surprised that I heard such a difference between the two. It almost makes me wonder if the 545 has an issue, or if Shure variability is off this much mic-to-mic.

Different speakers on the same amp can have a remarkably, or at least notably different tone

Edit: it can be more than enough to make the perceived difference between mic A and mic B
