The biggest problem is that high school teachers, counselors, and even parents peer pressure kids to go to college. It should be treated more like an option instead of a requirement. It’s funny that in school they teach you that peer pressure is bad at first (When it comes to drugs, sex, alcohol, etc.) but it’s ok to pressure you into going to universities and junk.

College itself is a business, and unfortunately many people are told that to succeed, we must go to college. It has grown outdated in a world that is changing so rapidly. I suspect that in one generation, half of all young adults won't go to college anymore. I've seen trends that point to this.

You are essentially paying a small % of _everything_ that a college has, which adds up...to a lot. And most of it is to attract new students to the school. So you're basically paying to get _more students_ to pay for _even more students_ ...yeah...😂

Amazing how none of these "College is a scam" videos ever mention the declining quality of materials, or the fact that you really don't learn much of anything from school. I learned more about cars and digital electronics by satisfying my own curiosity. So much more, in fact, that not a single class period went by where I did *NOT* identify erroneous or missing information in the curriculum. So students are coming out of college with who knows how much incorrect information.

With technology, education should become CHEAPER not more expensive… it’s a racket because they aren’t leveraging technology to make the education affordable, they just keep jacking up the prices but the ROI is getting lower.

You can teach yourself almost any job in the world with the internet, but without a degree in it you don't get past the employer's filtering system.

I think college is merely one path in life. I believe it's about making wise decisions about your own life, not blindly following everyone else. Taking a gap year and documenting my own journey on my channel, I've already learned so much that I don't think I would have had the opportunity to learn about in a traditional college setting.

Just remember: it's not the place that makes the person, but rather the person who makes the place. The most common career choose in Harvard graduates is actually high school teacher. All this to say, don't think that a more expensive school will open more doors for you. Pay as little as you can for education if you want to get the highest rate of return.

Self education is as effective as college nowadays. But people are chasing a degree. They think that if I enter this college or school, I will instantly be more successful. This degree will be meaningful for my wealth in the future and my dream job is easier to obtain. Turns out, your success is dependent on what you choose to sacrifice your time.
