Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood says there are rumours Australia’s biggest oil and gas companies, Woodside and Santos, are “exploring merger options”.

Mr Greenwood’s comments come as oil prices fell more than 4 per cent overnight as America reported higher-than-expected stockpiles of petrol.

“Their lowest since June,” he said.

Woodside and Santos were “impervious to the falls” due to the merger rumours,” Mr Greenwood said.

Woodside on Thursday was up by 0.44 per cent and Santos up 0.74 per cent.

Wonderful! More oil and gas are ultimately available for consumers.
BUT, ... build nuclear power stations NOW!
