So many other creators think of cinematic as overly flashy transitions or overly graded shots...this is cinematic.

Nr 1 Tip I didn't know before I was a videographer & what adds the most to the shot looking cinematic: placing the main light to the side or even better behind the subject but still out of frame. 

Kind like this:

This creates Contrast in the face = looks cinematic. 

While doing that, keep in mind to extend the existing light, so if there's a window visible in the shot on the right side, place the main light to the right as well. The rgb bars are super cool for doing this on the go.

If the contrast it too high (= shadow side of the face too dark), you can place a dimmed fill light at the opposite direction of the main light to brigten the shadow side up juuust a little bit. For Close ups like hers in the car an iPad scren could do the job.

How do you get the shot right outside your front window of your car?? Also does this take away from the actual trip? I'm new and I'm about to edit my first vlog. I'm afraid of it taking away too much attention from being present in the moment.
