Welcome to the 2021 Buyer's Guide Series! This is going to be fun! We're kicking it off with Rod and Reel combos under (or close to) 100 dollars. The purpose of these guides is to help you make educated decisions when purchasing tackle, as well as to help your loved ones shop for you during the holiday season. The $100 category has some awesome choices in it this year!

If you're not familiar with our Buyer's Guide series, you're really going to enjoy the next few weeks! Every year we take time just before the holidays to film these videos to help anglers like yourselves make educated decisions about rods and reels, tackle, and fishing equipment. We start with budget combos and work our way up to the top of the line. After that, we shift gears and work our way through tackle and equipment. If you have any questions about gear along the way be sure to ask in the comments and we'll do our best to help you.

I have the Denali Ryker Heavy and it fishes like a medium heavy so spot on with that review for sure. I have a Daiwa Tatula CT 100 on it and love them both.

I'm still fishing with 30 year old Shimano baitcasters and a few Abu Garcia round body baitcasters, mostly matched up with various G. Loomis rods. The rods are either IM6, GL2, GL3 or IMX. I've never cleaned them and they still perform very well! I don't own a baitcaster with a gear ratio higher than 5.6:1, I just don't see the need for super fast retrieve speeds. Slower speeds have more power. I guess I'm very old-school and set in my ways!
