🇨🇳 Grasshopper | VN-17 | Tier VIII Armored Fighting Vehicle | Armored Warfare

In 2017 a new Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) emerged in China. This armored vehicle is being proposed for export customers as the VN17. It is an entirely new design, rather than clone of Western or Russian designs. The VN17 is based on a VT5 light tank chassis.

This new Chinese IFV weights around 30 t. It is fitted with modular add-on armor kit. This new IFV is better protected than ZBD-08, used by the Chinese army. This armored vehicle follows the current trend for better protected IFVs. Most likely that front armor of the VN17 withstands 30 mm armor-piercing rounds.

The VN17 is armed with a 30 mm automatic cannon. There are also two HJ-12 anti-tank missile launchers. This armored vehicle has got a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun.
