As a Dad, your awareness is always "on", even if you are doing something else. Once I was 90% asleep with my toddler next to me and I could tell she was falling off the bed just by the shift in weight on the mattress and I caught her with literally zero thought. It would have been like a two foot drop so I didn't save her from any harm, but I was still proud of myself
