As someone that has worked with over 300 people. I would say it depends on the company and where you live. Some places require a degree, some places only require certs, some places may not require anything and hire you because of your willingness to learn. Going back to getting jobs. You need a good resume, build a home lab for relevant tech experience, fix your LinkedIn profile, get certified, connect with job recruiters. It's a hard question to answer when it comes to dregree/certs because people land a job in tech by having certs, no certs, college degree or just knowing someone. Everyone has their own story on how they landed that job in tech.
