If true, then this general not only lacked fighting quality, he had mental health issues. He also had a normal hyper-conscience. Men with hyperactive consciences are not good commanders. The other dynamic, is moral clarity. For example, Israel has moral clarity. They fight a war for their existence. They fight because they have religious convictions. They believe their enemy is evil and they have truth and righteousness on their side. The Indian general probably lacked moral clarity! Then there is the pressure from the West to stop fighting. The West just want peace. They dont care about India's best interest!!!

Because india believes in peace and never attacked first and indian army reached lahore and waved their flags on lahore schools and polive station but later accepted cease fire because of US and USSR pressure to stop war and accept peace as Pakistan was out of ammo

General JN Choudhary was a good General. He restored moral of the army after 1962 China war and maded several changes. He is known as the father of BSF. He got misinformation from his subordinates which lead him to belive that the ammunition was decreasing.

The knowledge on feneral’s background connection doesn’t seem accurate.

As far as I know, most of the Indian generals had served in British Indian forces and on that merit they were given these positions.
