Meet Dr. Marilyn Waring - a remarkable woman with a powerful story.

Dr. Marilyn Waring is an emeritus professor of public policy at the Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand. Internationally, she is known for her ground-breaking work in political economy, development assistance and human rights, and her classic work Counting for Nothing: What Men Value and What Women are Worth.

After being elected at twenty-three, Marilyn has served three terms in New Zealand’s parliament. She has been a member of the Board of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, the Councils of Creative New Zealand and Massey University, the QEII National Trust and the Institute of Judicial Studies, and most recently, the WHO Council on The Economics of Health for All.

In 2020, Marilyn became a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to women and economics. She is also a Zonta International Honorary Member.
