i have a 2005 ..it has 116k...still runs great..did a few little fixes on mine over last year i have owned.but i have heard bad things about front converter failing and breaking in pieces etc...hopefully i can drive it a few more months then sell it... i use it for gig deliveries..and plan on either getting a used hybrid etc... gas is such a used expense even with a 2.5 l... i think i average 23 mpg...40 mpg plus would be huge improvement...thanks for sharing...

That is messed up too bad for the customer! Sad some dealers rip off there customers. Not good for business. Glad you were able to help he get back on the road and how he can save a couple bucks in the process. Thanks Timmy!

astral I just watched this video because I own a NIss altima 03 3.5 so it interested me. I just love the way you do your Diagnosis. I want to fly into your town meet you take you to lunch for Ribs and just visit with you. You helped me so much way back when I watched those 11 or 14 videos it took you to do that engine swap out in the back yard. I still laugh at how you were able to pull it off. UDAMAN

Thank you so much Tim, cause my car does the same exact thing, it cranks, but don't start, and I have a 2006 Nissan altima. I already got a brand new battery and starter from Firestone. So i will go back to Firestone and see if they can check the fuel pump. This video has been extremely helpful, that I also had to subscribe to your channel. Thank you again..Timmy

That's a QR engine. First thing you do when it doesn't start is to go buy 2 crank and cam angle sensors. They go after 90.000 km. Is that simple. And the fuel pump? You can hear that self priming when you turn ignition on. The. Turn back off and listen for the relay in the dash switching off, then turn ignition to on again and listen carefully for the priming short humming coming from under the rear seats. But the cam and crank angle sensors, yes both as they share lifespan, are the culprit in 95% of the cases.

Fuel pump on rockauto.com is 150 with shipping... that will save him tons of money. That site is for DIY type guys... bought an awesome fan assembly for my jeep for 64 bucks shipped to my door with OEM connectors. AAMCO when they replaced it exactly a year and 1 month prior too it cost me 161$ for the fan assembly plus they hacked off my oem conmectors and labor was almost $200.. great video though... my sister has an 06 altima so now i know where the fuel pump is... thank you for your videos!!! Please keep em coming

Most gas tanks have sand and water in the bottom 300 gallons. In Florida, you NEED a fuel filter!!! Stalling 2004 Altima "has no serviceable fuel filter", and the pump sock is supposed to do the filtering. Good luck with that! Mine had a bad camshaft sensor, it started, ran and then, stalled. Harbor Freight Tool had one pressure tester, that screws on to the Shraeder Valve on the fuel rail, so you can see the full fuel line pressure. Takes only a minute!

Tim, you are a good man for helping out a customer with some knowledge and know how. Whoever sold this car should be ashamed of themselves. People work too hard for their money to get ripped off like this.

2006 Altima 2.5L wouldn't start, replaced fuel pump, still didn't start. Ensured fuel pump was working by removing the fuel line at the pump and turning key to ON for 1-2 sec, and pump spit fuel into rag covering fuel line. Reconnected fuel line and figured must be missing spark. So, ran check engine code, and code said cam position sensor was bad, replaced cam position sensor, and car started right up.

I have this problem now with my daughters 2004 2.5. Last week got a code 0400 but when it shut off I get error from my OBD2 reader. Taking it to the shop today. On a side note if anyone ever goes thru coils back to back specifically after getting a light rear end tap check the negative cable on the battery. If one of the two leads on the negative (or worst both) are brittle and break off you're will be going thru coils like water. That's a Nissan TSB.

P0420 can be a few things, in my case it was only the O2 sensor on the CAT. Great video of the fuel pump, thank you sir!

I have 2005 does the same. I've changed out fuel pump and the spark plugs are good, as well as the sensors. I don't have a check engine light, but I do get an AT check that goes away. Any ideas?

My 2005 Nissan also had the p0420 code as well. The front Converter I had to replace. Managed to get an aftermarket one online for $400 which I brought back my old one and got $75 back so really paid $325 for it. I paid about $290 for the work at a shop which was half of what I was quoted for. Now I am having the fuel pump problem, which I am replacing today. Surprising how expensive a fuel pump can be! But I guess it’s because the fuel pump and sending unit is all one.

Dig it nice video. I got a 2005 2.5 Nissan Altima. Millage 272, 000. History cracked block coolant in oil, changed out oil and filter and fixed it with blue devil, no problems at all. Bad coils and I replaced them and new plugs, Platinum premium with the tiny spark points fixed and running. History this year has a unexplained phenomena according to internet and a statement by Nissan as so, that has trouble starting. Has run great till yesterday with no problems starting as of yesterday on errands she would not start. This morning I checked each coil and plug got great spark on each one, starter is fine, battery is new, getting fuel as tried pumping pedal to try to start it you can smell the fuel. Everything seems to be working fine and will not start. Any Ideas that I can dig?

Thank you very much for sharing this with us. I didn’t even know you could get to the fuel pump under the back seat. Thanks again
