As far as the mummy goes that was discovered, and the curse that goes with it, I would say it is most likely a airborne disease virus that kills. That could be considered a curse.

Wiener dogs were originally bred to hunt badgers in the badgers own hole. And they were exceptionally good at their job.

Hollow reeds or other items were likely used to drink for longer than commonly recorded .it is likely early man(or proto-man)learned to drink water covered with floating detritusby putting a hollow stemmed plant...either reed or some other...below the surface.
Later as man started storing grains in jars it is likely that on an occasion a jar. Would become corrupted and fill with rain water...
Some brave soul would either have tried it not knowing he was drinking the first fermented beverage or he would have chosen to feed it to livestock and noticed its intoxicating effect to them.encouraging him to give it a go.
They likely would have drank this first beer through a hollow stem.
There are early pictographs showing individuals drinking thru reeds.

"Sausage dogs" actually are good hunters of pests like rats around the home, in the country side or big gardens. I used to have one, he would catch rats and rip their head and never eating them.

Ptolemaic Egypt is not ancient Egypt. This is Greek Egypt after Alexander. Closer to us than to actual ancient Egypt.
