Alycia Burton Riders Retreat- Rain & Floods!

We were flooded in for 6 days during one of our December 24 Retreats........ SO we made lemonade! 🍋🍋

In all seriousness though, we do need to train our horses (AND riders) to be OK in bad weather because it happens all the time at competitions, on trails and in emergency situations where you need to evacuate.

We are very fortunate where we live (Sandy Creek) because we have 500 acres of beautiful trails through the hills that are great all year round.

I use to break in horses full time (As well as re-breaks and rehabilitations) when I lived in New Zealand. We would use the wet months of the year for a lot of this and it made for safe confident horses!

Despite the constant rain and flooded rivers we had a great time 🥰🦄🥳

P.S- The road base we are jumping on is sand and is perfect in wet weather so chill out if your freaking out 🥸🤣
