Good stuff. The only thing that one has to keep in mind that Kaspersky is not something you can download from the USA. From other parts of the world, no problem.

Luckily due to the advent of more modern operating systems (yes Win11 does have some advantages) these tools aren't required as often. I still keep most of the above on hand though...Thanks Brian !

Thank you, Brian. I'm happy using Windows Security, but I really wouldn't mind putting a _2nd_ real time scanning utility to work as a supplement to that.

Which one (free or not) would you recommend most? (Kaspersky wouldn't be an option for me though because it's no longer available to US users.) To be clear, I'm more interested in real time scanning than doing 'second opinion' (manual) scans.

Well Brian I have used some of these in the past and frankly I don't like the constant nagging to upgrade to the premium version/s. I actually have been using ESET Ultimate for some years now and it does everything that I want out of a security suite. Just as an afterthought if one uses one of these temporary softwares can it be removed from the system and then downloaded again at a later date?

The very tools I used to use I still think windows defender is a lot better than it used to be and use win aero tweaker to block the ads

My arsenal includes kaspersky rescue disk, Emsisoft, hitman Pro, Dr web live cd and finally FRST32/64 to cleanup all remnants leftover by hitman Pro, Emsisoft etc

if you have virus, it is too late anyway
forget windows that take screenshot every 5 second
go linux, use vm, backups and encryption if necessary
windows = big brother

It seems pretty hard to get a virus, given the new Windows 10 or 11 operating system, if you also have an antivirus like the ones presented in the tutorial. I use Windows Defender and from time to time I run a scan with an offline antivirus... and everything has been ok (so far)😊
