I'm convinced those phone case stores are a money laundering operation

I am from Madrid and the reason you see so many taxis is because you are in the downtown and a few years ago the town hall banned all non-electric cars except for taxis/Ubers and cars belonging to residents in the area to circulate in this area to reduce pollution

1. The phone cases store, everybody knows/believes it's fro money laundering like another store of candies that is always empty
2. The taxis, depending on the time of the year and the neighbour you are can be many of them or none
3. It's illegal to charge you the tap water (and it's a very good one)in Madrid, but if you order a bottle of water they will charge you
4. Never take as a reference the turistcs places like Plaza Mayor, if you see a restaurant with photos of the menu and in english, it's not a typical place. And if see paella in Madrid, run away

Dude, it ain't the first video where you misinform like this. We do have free water by law in Spain in every bar and restaurant.
Also, there are many taxis BECAUSE it's a walking type of city. Does this last point really need to be explained?

It’s not exactly like you say. Just in case you’re interested.. some corrections down below 😊
-There are taxis because in your area non resident cars or non electric cars are not allowed. Everywhere else…. Not the case
- Madrid walking kind of city?? Not really, however we don’t depend on cars as much in the US
-Phone case store… everyone is convinced is a front…
-You can have free tap water. Some places don’t like it and they will try and say it’s only purchasing it.. however they are obliged by law to give you glasses of tap water if you ask… they are probably trying to take advantage of you
- Tapas… not every restaurant is like that. But… eating a shared dish (which is what tapas are) is very much our culture

I don't live there, but as a fellow European ALL these things make prefect sense to me. (the center is most likely (semi)car free, meaning only for residents and taxies)

Why do Americans think their way is the norm?

Madrid es una ciudad moderna y cosmopolitan donde acogemos a todos de manera agradable y cordial hay de todo para disfrutar de nuestra ciudad y gastronomia

Wouldn't it just be easier if Americans just stayed in the US and never left so that everything would be 100% predictable and "make sense" to Americans. Why go outside the US only to be be irritated by the things that are different from the US?

Green and yellow for McDonald’s was introduced in Europe to bring a healthier image of the fast food that had difficulties convincing locals.
Also water in restaurant is free but you have to ask for tap water specifically.

McDonald's is green because they wanted to make us think that it is healthier hence the green color... 😅

Red and yellow is the ugliest combination ever, Americans design their restaurants so that you want to get out as soon as possible, while the Spanish design their restaurants so you want to sit in and enjoy

Maybe you should get a Spanish friend to review these before you post? 😂 I mean, I’ve watched several of these and you keep generalizing all these facts. Just to name one, you are in Madrid, the Capital of Spain, they like their walking areas but Madrid is not a city you can get around on foot. There is hella cars and taxis, and it makes perfect sense. It’s massive and super busy 😂😂

The pretty Mcdonalds are usually bc they repurpose old buildings.

The phone case shops I won’t comment on XD but their profit margins are crazy

You can totally ask for a glass of water and be given it for free, it’s just not something people do much. And usually not allowed in fancy places.

You need to get to a good tapas place. They can have meals entirelly based on tapas. Good tapas-places dishes’ will be massive and meant to share family-style. No one eats tapas (much) by themselves but that square you show at the end is super famous so their menus might be foreign-ified.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk and hopefully you’ll get over the green McD thing soon!❤

Just because things ‘don’t make sense’ to us in America, doesn’t mean they’re silly or wrong. They are just different than in America! I loved traveling in Europe, so much culture and history! ❤

stop saying "America" if you talking about the USA, to us thats a whole continent

So a McDonalds establishment respects the original architecture and doesn't make sense to you?...

You can actually get free water, I'm Spanish form Madrid my whole life, and not too many know, but you have to order a 'jar of water' (tap water) instead of a bottle of water. The vas majority of places, all of them I would say, are obliged to offer free tap water. Hope it's useful, love your content❤.
