How to Lower Trailblazer SS and Replace Ball Joints

Other Parts Used on This TBSS

Its finally lowered! The Trailblazer SS that is. Ever since I bought this trailblazer I have been wanting to lower it. I finally got all the parts a what a huge difference in looks. I wanted a 30.5 kit or 30.5 drop not a 31.5. I decided to go with belltech front struts and adjust the airbags for the drop I wanted. In this video I show you how to lower a trailblazer or trailblazer ss. I also show you how to replace the upper ball joints, lower ball joints, upper a arms and sway bar end links in a trailblazer ss. The process for replacing the ball joints and a arms would be the same on a regular trailblazer. I wasn't planning on ball joint replacement since the prior owner said they had already been replaced but they were original. With the amount of play I knew we would have to replace them. I also chose to replace the upper a arms with Norcal SS arms. I think if you are lowering a trailblazer you need to replace the upper a arms to get the alignment right. These are very well made and fit like factory replacements. I will say that the rear air bag adjustment on the tbss is a bumpy ride compared to factory. It is not terrible but noticeable. This video goes through the entire lowering of a trailblazer ss. I also include torque specs for tbss suspension.

Good job👍🏿 Don't forget to change those front sway bar bushings also. AC Delco makes a nice polyurethane bushing for those. Rock Auto has them for a nice price 👍🏿

My Beltech lowering shocks listed the drop as 1.5 and 2.5 inches. I did replace the airbags with coils. The shocks I installed at the lowest setting. I only used the shocks and that gave me the drop I wanted. I think you went lower though. 👍 Mine was about 30 inches in the front and a little over that in the back when done. It's been a while so I could be wrong.

Looks sick! I have always liked the Chevy Trail Blazers! Wish I had an SS! I would do the same thing and lower it because it changes the look and personality of the Blazer

Nice work, I love the way they look but the ride is horrible when lowered but if you live in an area with good roads you should b we fine. I'm in NYC this didn't work out for me so I had to go back up a little.

Awesome Vid! Lucky with the RWD, I have a AWD and wasn’t as easy as yours but it was well worth. You going to do a vid on the oil starvation issue on these?
