Im confused, it looks like some of the images of the iPhone 14 looks better then the iPhone 14 pro

I do think many photos look better on the normal iPhone 14 than the pro.

I'm not upgrading this year, but I always look forward to your reviews because you show that phone cameras are very capable devices in the right hands. Excited to put my iPhone 13 Pro cameras to the test more next year. Thanks Tyler! 💜

The main lens looks nearly identical across the 14 and 14 Pro. But wow, is there a dramatic improvement with the ultra-wide lens on the Pro. I use that lens all the time too, so I'd consider that a worthwhile upgrade.

I have the 14 Pro and one thing that surprised me is how much I notice the move from a 26mm equivalent to a 24mm equivalent on the main camera. It now feels a bit too wide-angle-ish for a main lens to me. Then again, the gradation between the different focal length does make sense. But it is definitely something to keep in mind and something I have to get used to / gather some more experience. Thanks for the super interesting analysis!

The raw is “worse” because it’s giving you more editing capabilities. You could fix the wall and the sky in post. That’s the point of raw… tuning up your image.

THANK YOU!!! you are the first one who realizes that the camera on the 14 is improved :) I have a 13 as company phone - and now a 14 for myself - it doesn’t look this artifacty anymore when zooming in especially with white objects - also I see it’s more sharper and clearer - I am very happy with the 14 (even though I come from an 12pro max which got stolen last month - was supposed to last one more year for the 15… it doesn’t feel at all like a downgrade… (was using an X as replacement till the 14s arrived)… I am really really happy with my 14 and I think some tech YouTubers only compare previous gen with new gen and forget that people are not upgrading every year ;)

Wow, it's remarkable how great the 14 Pro's 48MP RAW images are. All the annoying over-sharpening and noise-reduction artifacts of the typical iPhone image mostly appears to be gone, and it does start looking a lot like professional camera imaging. Also the new ultra-wide is a clear win all around. Color me (haha) impressed!

Very nice tip on the new option for preserving the F-stop for cinematic mode. I remember last year you mentioned how much better it was to change away from the default to get usable shots, and I've been doing it since, but it's always a PITA to do especially if moving fast/quickly. Sometimes it's the little things!

Played with the 14 Pro at Best Buy today and decided to keep my 13 Pro, the dynamic island was really not that interesting and my cameras on the 13 Pro are great as they are. Losing almost half the value of my 13 Pro for minimal upgrades makes no sense, not to mention adding in buying another $60 case. Glad I did not pre-order. iOS 16 also made my phone feel like a new phone.

Tyler is the only reviewer pointing out the horrible lens flare these phones produce at night compared to a regular camera.

I know im not alone but i really like how the ProRaw images looking softer & more organic than the bumped up digital sharpness & contrast the jpeg/heic images. I wish i can shoot with that mode all the time. But my concern is, can we use ProRaw mode in lowlight?

Tyler Stalman: The best, honest camera review, like overall.

Dave2D: Review summary of the phone.

MKBHD: Video animation and transitions.

We can see the difference in sharpness in all examples! Thank you

Megapixel counts only matter to a point. If you are doing a large amount of cropping in with your photos of course you'll get better detail. However for the purpose most people use their phone for, there's a reason why Apple stayed with the same count for years.

5:44 Yeah, definitely adds to realism of this looking like true depth of field.

I think it's fair to say that us iP14 users isn't missing that much in the camera department. But I still want to get an iP14 Pro in Silver color but it's so damn expensive.

I just went from an 11 to 14, and I'm chuffed (only picked it up yesterday afternoon). I'm keen to do a comparison of the cameras, especially the lowlight and night shots.

Great review! Very informative comparison of each lens on iPhone 14 Pro, got more insight on which lens/mode to choose for different scenarios. Also glad to see Calgary skyline and some of my own frequent spots featured in the review!

10:45 you've heard wrong, it's not optical, it's a digital (crop) zoom.

9:30, 13:10 & 14:47 that "more details" you see is just software oversharpening and overcontrasting, producing a "better" image for Instaweb use, but it's actually worse overbaked overprocessed mushy bs.
