10 WORST SOUNDING CARS OF TODAY

This is a list of the nastiest (not in a good way) sounding cars of our time. What sound is good of bad is subjective, but there is a consensus or at least a majority on these picks of terrible sound engines.

Generally speaking V6 engines (unless they are turbocharged) seem to be out of favor. Boxer engines will probably never be remembered as "classic" as opposed to the sound of the Jaguar E=Type.

So here are my picks of the engines that just can't make the music.

Sounds like he has a cold or something because his voice sounds completely different. Hope he’s ok.

Wow was not expecting a Subaru boxer turbo engine to make this list. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who disliked the sound of an Impreza STI 😬

Craig’s own exhaust sounds different too 😅

You know what would be cool? Craig rating subscribers cars because he has a very good taste in cars

What's worse than bad sounding cars?

When auto manufactures create fake engine or exhaust audio that plays through the car speakers. That really grinds my gears.

Fun fact: the VQ series of engines was widely used on a bunch of diferent vehicles, including the Renault Alpine A110-50, the Mitsubishi Dignity and the Renault Espace.

My opinion, I actually don't mind the sound of a vq if it's DONE RIGHT! No muffler/ resonator deletes, 3in with a muffler on the end sounds good, nice and smooth and deep, muffler/ res delete sounds like the aftermath of taco bell.

As someone whose daily driver is a Subaru WRX with a cat back exhaust, the last point of "only car guys would like that sound" is so very true. I've been a car guy all my life and the sound was one of the reasons why I got the car in the first place. In addition, the exhaust notes, stock or aftermarket, of high-performance cars can really only be truly appreciated by car enthusiasts. My dad's Porsche 930 has an exhaust that's very rumbly when idling. My late grandma, his mother who knew nothing about cars, never liked it because she thought it always sounded like something was wrong with it lol.

Well said. Could you make a list of the 10 best sounding engines? Maybe just exclude stuff that the common people can't buy such as the Carrera GT or the LFA. So maybe best sounding engines for cars that are under $200, 000.

I was never a Honda guy, but in the mid 2000s, I bought a CRX just to see if I could see what the hype was all about. I was severely disappointed, however, the one positive I got from it was being able to claim that I had the best sounding one in town. The only thing I did different was throwing in a resonator rather than going strait piped. Even my exhaust guy was like, finally.. A Honda that doesn't make me wanna weld my ears shut.

Please explain to me how the V6 challenger, charger and 300 weren’t in here?😂
You legitimately could’ve grouped all the v6 muscle cars together😂

I own a 370z, ive never heard a trumpet sound. Here in Australia, nobody straight pipes or removes mufflers on Z's. If this doesnt change your mind, the Motordyne exhaust makes the VQ sound amazing

You're not kidding. Fools in my town drive around in straight piped Civics that sound like shit. Reminds me ball bearings in a washing machine and most of these cars couldn't get out of their own way even if they had to. I find it hilarious that I can silently blow their doors off from a dig while they make a bunch of noise trying to get to 50.

Craig said VQs, and I'm sitting here wondering why the venerable Altima wasn't mentioned. If anybody wants to talk tragic Nissans, this one's it. This is the unofficial car of being done with life.

Before I was born, my dad was a merchant seaman based out of San Francisco. He had a ‘68 Firebird. And a friend of a friend was a former factory mechanic for the Pontiac trans am race team. So thankfully, he had zero trial and error. He knew what all the hot tickets were.

You totally forgot the Volkswagen Golf with that diarrhea sound

Another reason they changed the side exhaust on that dodge viper was because if it was running and the driver or passenger got out it would hurt and, in some case, burn their leg. This caused people to call and complain and with what you said about the censors all added up so the switched it to the back.

Not usually a fan of v6 mustangs but my buddy had a s197 v6 with around 350 crank hp and a low burbles/pops and bangs tune. Ofc it couldn’t beat the sound of a v8 but it was pretty damn good tbh

I owned a G35 coupe in the late 2000s before these zoomer hot bois got a hold of them and turned them into the model of criminal behavior on the street. It was a really fun car to cruise in, relatively quick, and I actually loved the stock exhaust note. Funny enough, I sold the car to a guy who looked like he'd do intersection takeovers, which is likely what the car has been used for for the past decade.
