ooh, i can take this one. the reason you're getting invisible faces on your newgens is:
- a lot of the people (players or staff, often the latter) at the bottom of your expanded database have xml entries but not face images, which leaves them blank like that rather than defaulting to the silhouette
- when these people fall out of the game or retire, their numerical IDs can be reassigned to newgen players
- because these player IDs already have an xml entry assigned they're overwriting whatever the newgan facepack is assigning them
- annoying fix for this is to locate the offending player in the japan facepack xml and delete their entry entirely
- there's a separate problem of the newgan facepack being unable to cope with the sheer number of teams (and therefore generated players) in the lower levels of japan and literally not having enough east asian faces to assign. it'll just stop assigning faces in that category when it runs out!
