Показать описание
In this video I show you how to connect to wifi on the linux command line in a live cd (this works for gentoo, arch linux, void linux, any live cd that has wpa_supplicant installed on it)

you'll need to know your wifi ssid (name) wifi password, and the name of your wifi card (you can find it with the command ip link)

vi into /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant-$NAMEOFWIFI.conf ($NAMEOFWIFI is the string for your device you get from ip link)

add the following to the file
ctrl_interface=/run/wpa_supplicant
update_config=1
:wq to save

run the following command and have its output append to the file you just created

wpa_passphrase (ssid) (wifi_password)

finally initialize the connection with

 and be sure to click that notification bell so you know when new videos are released. ₿💰💵💲Help Support the Channel by Donating Crypto💲💵💰₿

that's not at all what I expected you to look like. Also very creative and minimalist approach to having a webcam in your video!

Love how you're holding it up like a stage magician proving there's no hidden wires, implying getting wifi to work on Gentoo is some kind of supernatural feat only achievable by trickery.
...which I'll admit isn't too far from the truth from where I'm sitting

OMG! I can't thank you enough for this!!! I was trying to install Gentoo on my laptop but couldn't get my wifi connected! No one ever explained how to do it during the installation process but you! This worked! Thank you!!!

it tells me "sucessfully initialized", but when I try to ping anything I get a temporary resolving error. What's to do?

When you're typing at the command line, ALT+. (that's alt + dot) will place the last argument of the last command at your cursor. It's extremely handy. I just wanted to save you from the pain of typing over and over again :D. So for example,
$ wpa_passphrase CIA_Honeypot GlowsInTheDark >>
$ vi <ALT+DOT> --> will expand to

I appreciate you doing this. :) This is the part me, and I imagine a lot of other users struggled with the most, while most guides merely glance over the topic.

He really is too cool to install gentoo the old fashioned way. Great video! It should help a lot of people.

I've recently cloned the SSD to and external HDD, and I can't get the WiFi to connect, although the settings are correct. What can I enter in the terminal?

In the first step using “$ ip link” to show devices, I’m only seeing one device return. It seems like my router isn’t showing up as an option. Any advice? I saw one forum saying I need to disable secure boot?

5:00 omfg, what a narrow world. I took inspiration from your unique hatred for the alphabet boys and randomly named my mobile hotspot "FBI Honeypot", only to see you've practically done the same :)
Thanks for the content king, you are the single channel which has changed my outlook on life the most.

Also, I didn't expect it would could come in so handy, but this video really saved my ass in configuring my wireless configuration on Gentoo. The configuration I'd done in the livecd environment hadn't carried over to the installation, so I was momentarily a little screwed lmao.
