Buddy Rich was one of the most famous and talented jazz drummers of all time. Born in 1917, he began playing professionally at the age of 18 and quickly became known for his incredible drumming skills. Rich was recognized as one of the fastest and most precise drummers of his generation and his unique and innovative technique inspired many other musicians. In addition to his drumming abilities, he was also an excellent band leader and led several jazz groups throughout his career. Buddy Rich passed away in 1987, but his music and influence are still felt today and he is considered a jazz icon.

So, so glad was able to see him play live a # of times. Best was a free concert at Cooper River Park in NJ. As a kid went right down & planted myself right in front of his kit 8-). Buddy would be draped with sweat by the end of performances, he was def. one of the hardest workers in Showbiz! His Marine Corp. roots never left him & expect the best from himself & band members..

Just Watched and listened to this gentleman on BBCFour..a Parkinsons' Interview Show..Roy Castle and Kenny Evereett then a surprise guess was Sammy Davis Jnr. Its worth another watch again and again..Legends!

Rich was a Band drummer ? The Band was early Karaoke for him. Bet he couldn't sing 'My Way' like the rest of us.
(Ok, don't get kranky..he was brilliant).
