Jeet Kune Do was Bruce Lee's innovation to martial arts developing fast twitch, explosive punching & kicking power. In order to be proficient in this art one must exercise regularly to achieve overall physical fitness results. Weight, strength, and flexibility training is also stressed to stay in good health.

"The explosive power people hope to achieve is not through advanced Jeet Kune Do training but through individual dedication from the very start. Look to a school or teacher who emphasizes intercepting principles (not techniques) in every fighting category! As distance changes between you and your opponent, your weapons must adaptively change!" - Octavio Quintero

Octavio's training resembles a cross between rapid punching speed of a boxer and the agility of a fencer.

Music:
The Chromatics -- Tick of the Clock
Immediate Music -- Naked Prey
Bloodsport Soundtrack -- Kumite

Q & A with Octavio's teacher, Jerry Poteet (an original Bruce Lee student)
Q: How do you define Jeet Kune Do?
A: JKD is the art of intercepting a hit with a hit. Simply to simplify. It is uncluttered and direct.

Q: What do you think Bruce was trying to pass on to his students?
A: The difference between "doing" and "being." In other words, don't just do the movement, be the movement.

Q: What do you think Bruce meant by change and evolution?
A: The evolution he talked about is on a personal, individual level. Jeet Kune Do is the key that brings about that change and evolution.

"No two musicians play "Moonlight Sonata" on the piano exactly the same. Their phrasing, what notes they choose to amplify, et cetera, are different from each other, because of the emotional approach, or attitude they bring to the piece. But they can't say they are playing Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" unless they play the notes that he wrote; they can't choose to do their own t hing and play whatever, and still call it "Moonlight Sonata!" In the same way, you can't do whatever and call it "My JKD." You are doing Bruce Lee's art of Jeet Kune Do, or you're not doing it at all."

Simple, Direct and Non-Classical. I think Bruce himself would be proud to see the essence of his art being carried on so well.

its great to see that Bruces art is indeed in safe hands here . . just a nice example of how explosive you have to be . . . anyone looking at this would instantly recognise the dynamics . .  most fights begin this way so look at this recognise the ESSENCE of what is being demonstrated then go practice !! thanks for the upload and the free pointers . .

it's good to see another person who is being Inspired by Bruce Lee.
Jeet Kune Do has it's base in Wing Chun but let's not get too excessive with the Wing Chun inside fighting. Bruce Lee also learned Gung Fu too so some of his movements is actually Chinese Kung Fu movements as well, not just Wing Chun wooden dummy movements. Some of Bruce's movements was like Tai Chi which is a big part of his fighting style, and he also moved and bounced around like a boxer or a fencer sometimes. He had a lot of rythm like a dancer and Bruce was just the complete package and I've still not found anyone who can emulate him 100%.

This is insane. Love your embodiment of the jkd spirit. The congruence of theory and application is dead on.
Keep posting videos amigo!

Glad to have trained with Octavio these past 7 years and with Jerry when I met him. Also happy to have met and trained with the people in the vid that have stayed committed or moved on in their training. It's great to see these videos being shared so that others can take on the principles and apply it in their daily lives to overcome their limitations in their process of transforming. Regardless of what art people take, it's there for us to evolve. No need to dominate each other. Just train.

Hello Sifu Quintero, I remember watching your earlier 'Explosive Jeet Kune Do' videos many years ago when I was still very young. You've come a very long way since then! Great video.

THE ONLY THING THAT IMPRESSES ME IS SEEING THE INSTRUCTOR SPAR WITH SOMEONE TRYING TO REALLY  HIT HIM, INSTEAD OF THE TRICK SHOTS I SEE AT DEMOS....I NOTICE A LOT OF INSTRUCTORS LEAVE THAT PART OUT
