Queer as Folk is a serial drama television series that ran from December 3, 2000, to August 7, 2005. The series was produced for Showtime by Cowlip Productions, Tony Jonas Productions, Temple Street Productions, and Showtime Networks, in association with Crowe Entertainment. It was developed and written by Ron Cowen and Daniel Lipman, who were the showrunners and also the executive producers along with Tony Jonas, former president of Warner Bros. Television.

It is based on the British series of the same title created by Russell T Davies. Although it was set in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, much of the series was actually shot in Toronto and employed various Canadian directors known for their independent film work (including Bruce McDonald, David Wellington, Kelly Makin, John Greyson, Jeremy Podeswa and Michael DeCarlo) as well as Australian director Russell Mulcahy, who directed the pilot episode. Additional writers in the later seasons included Michael MacLennan, Efrem Seeger, Brad Fraser, Del Shores, and Shawn Postoff.

What a profound period of time it was. I stumbled upon the series, and was hooked. Have watched the entire series several times now. It told our stories. You are all still beautiful, and have made all of us proud.

The guy who played Ted is still damn beautiful. Emmett and Ted told a very real and raw and complicated part of my love life. No one could have put that story into such a real chapter of so many of our lives. You guys were amazing. I’m full of very sad but very happy tears writing this. God bless you both. ANY OTHER STRAIGHT PEOPLE THAT WATCHED IT??? Just curious. It was my absolute favorite show I’ve ever seen, and probably ever will see. I think it was/is an important and relevant series. I miss it SO much!!! I miss visiting the characters! Each one of the cast members had an impact on me. I can’t say that about anything else I’ve EVER seen. Amazing. 💗😢💗

I watch this series virtually every day before going to bed and use it to fall asleep. I know many lines by heart and just cherish it. I only wish it had continued longer.

Such a moment in time. Everyone and everything in the show was spot on with the years it was made and truly felt real, like you could go out and find the place if you really wanted to.
