The bucket reverser was to give the Tornado the option of using a short runway for landing if their original base had been hit and the longer runway put out of use.

That bucket mechanism has more horsepower than a Cessna 152

Bucket reversers always blow me away, they’re so over engineered and awesome I literally built a bomber just to use them in Kerbal Space Program!

It’s amazing that any of this stuff survives more than 10 seconds

Very cool. Love the Tornado Fighter. Love the way the clam shell reverser gets hidden. Always wondered why I never saw a drag chute. Now I know. Thanks.

ZE343 brings back some good memories being hungover fixing the restraint lines

The forces those motors have to withstand must be almost unbelievable

Taught a cool thing about a fighter I knew.

I worked on the flightline of an European Airbase and the thrust reversers sound MUCH different when they're actively being used. Kinda interesting but some pilots seemed to prefer to use the thrust reversers rather than the wheel breaks because I'd see them taxiing and intermittently using the thrust reverser to slow down. Another interesting fact is that the thrust reverser actuation sound is surprisingly loud in comparison to the running (albeit idling) engine, it's like this super high pitched whine.

Someone please explain: how does the engine not just blow those buckets away from all the thrust forces?

Definitely cool, but I really like the sound of the F-15 air-powered exhaust nozzle actuators

Cool video. I'm just working on 3d Tonka and stunned a bit in engines area. Thank you very much.

I remember seeing the reversers on the ship in the beginning of Revenge of the Sith. Had no idea until now they were based on a real thing lol
