3.5 Miles out 3.5 miles back was the run from my barracks to Geronimo’s grave while I was at Ft Sill, a run we made every Friday… good memories.

Props for recognizing him as a leader since he was a medicine man for the Apache. He also has a young son that is buried out west at a US soldier graveyard in Arizona.

Thanks for posting this. I'm English and when I hear Geronimo I indeed think of the things you mentioned and a couple of others, but I also always end up think of the man himself as well. I've read a number of books that talk about him and we also briefly covered him in history at one of the schools I went to. It is nice to see him being accorded the respect he deserves.

The Quadrangle at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas still stands and is where he was confined after his capture in 1886.

My Dad was an 82nd Airborne Paratrooper and Ranger. Learning from him I yelled this man's name EVERY TIME I have ever jumped off of ANYTHING!

Ft. Sill was a ground pounding shaking base during training for Vietnam

I was stationed at Ft Sill in the 70s.
His skull was removed in 1918. Some say it is the skull in the Skull and Bones Society.

His body was removed by the Apache Nation in the middle of the night.
Its believed they took his remains to a remote area of the Apache Nation to be buried in the traditional way.
No arrests ever made
