It’s the comical amount of rocket devastators in the distance and the comical amount of rocket launcher guys.

Real reason: they're literal aimbots.

Teammate got sniped from almost half the map from one of those tower guns. Also, those rockets are 1 hit kills

as a malevelon creek veteran, there's a couple of tricks on killing certain automatons, but it will give you seriously ptsd when you watch your bug killer friend get blown up next to you

Honestly, I hate the heavy devastators more than anything. They fire forever, from seemingly infinite range, with insane accuracy, and flinch the hell out of you if you're trying to shoot back. And even if you flinch them, they won't necessarily stop firing or even fire with less accuracy.

The bots are irritating because of all the one shots and the insane range they seem to be able to agro on to you.

Love fighting the bots. It’s a different game about cover and planning your moves instead of just wandering around out in the open.

Currently my problem with Automatons is way too much of them reinforcing, I think enemies that are calling for reinforcements should prep it for longer time so you have a chance to intercept them, and only one ship should come down

The problem is the range of the bots and that I’m sick of shooting humanoid enemies, I’ve been doing that since I started gaming. The bugs are a really fun change of pace the same way the are in Deep Rock Galactic or Factorio, they’re just an awesome fodder enemy with so much room for creativity in their designs (which arrowhead has taken full advantage of). The automatons constant laser and rocket spam means that you’re gonna be ragdolled/staggered for 30% of the game, and aiming for their tiny little heads is just a bit boring

It’s a hard topic because if you over nerf them, they won’t be what they were intended to be, but if you don’t fix the problem, they won’t be played and Super Earth will be invaded.
Please devs, fix it. For Super Earth. Everyone must do their part!

They messed up the enemy detection and pathing last patch. Even with the stealth armor laying prone enemy patrols will turn there path right on top of you as soon as you are in 50 or so meters.

I hae an answer for why a matching set would give you a bonus. If the Medical armor gives you bonuses for stims, then one would think that the matching helmet would have more of that same technology, thus improving on what the rest of the armor is designed to do.

On the matter of fighting Automatons, I did a tier 2 mission and was completely surrounded by enemies almost instantly when trying to take out a factory. Shots were flying in from every direction making it impossible to escape, let alone survive. When I was respawned (playing solo), I was dropped in the middle of that same mass. It took three respawns to finally arrive at a point where I had broken contact with them, and had to give up on trying to get any of my lost resources back. My understanding was that the Automatons were intended to spawn in fewer numbers *because* they have ranged units as common troop types, but of late they seem to spawn in almost as many numbers as Terminids do. Might as well just fight the bugs. They're marginally less frustrating.

The easiest fix I could think of for the omniscient enemies would be to add a check when an action that triggers a hostile response is present.

Let's say I throw an airstrike into a nest from the other side of some rocks, no bugs looking at me or in my direction, and the stratagem lands in the middle of all the crawlies. This group should be hostile and in an active state of awareness (looking around, etc), but a check should also run to see if any helldivers are within LOS. If not, the bugs keep looking until they find someone, a timer runs out, or they die. If they are, then the current behavior can be used without issue. Why was this not planned, this game is awesome in so many other ways but this seems like a pretty big oversight lmao

The automatons require a lot more team work than the terms, doing quickplay on those planets is just frustrating because teammates want to do there own thing.

I feel like in a game like this you need something over your opponents. They really just need to tone down the one shots, hell even their shitty mass infantry can have rockets that one shot. Either that or maybe just give us double or triple the reinforcement budget to account for their increased lethality. Or maybe you drop in with your support weapon? With their lethality its really easy to get into a death spiral where you die, so you drop in but now you don't have the firepower you need to deal with their armor so you die again, rinse and repeat.

They should add equipment specialized against automatons to compensate for the difficulties of the matchup, things such as free EMP grenades, electronic warfare, anti-missile barriers, cyber camouflage to be invisible to robots temporarily, in general, stuff that gives some anti-frustration measures while making the battle against automatons unique

I like fighting Autos, it makes me feel like a clone commando fighting off waves of clankers with my brothers.

devs really need to buff defensive strats like smoke and the shield relay. they are the perfect tools for screening gunfire, but have such poor performance everyone defaults to personal shields.

also make heavy armor stagger resistant.

Personally I like fighting the automatons more due to the fact that it feels like a genuine war. Rather than a mindless horde the Automatons feel like they've got a proper Military-like strategy with the way they used combined arms-style doctrine against the Divers. It also feels like the War in the Terminator franchise and the feeling of being hopelessly outgunned is intense and thrilling for me

The instant spawns of groups with no indication of where they came from needs to change. I've also had moments when a tank just suddenly appears behind me - there's not enough indication of what's going on and where. Also - the game should enforce a minimum distance to drop reinforcements, as being dropped directly on top of might be a suicidal move for a robot, but it makes the game a big, chaotic mess. That's fun at times, but all the time - it's frustrating. 1 shots from rocket devastators is killing the fun. Too many mobs can waste you from too great of a distance.
