My almost 7 year old, Nehemiah, absolutely loves watching your channel with me. He has his own garden that he calls his farm. He germinated 5 pumpkin seeds that we saved last year and will talk your ear off about how much he has learned from it. Thank you for everything you do. We appreciate it! Also, he said you should name your chicken “Biggie”. ❤️

Hey, quick thought, grab a trail cam off Amazon and point it at your pond to catch the nocturnal critters. Might be pretty neat

Zone 5 here, had a half a tomatillo I didn't use so planted some seeds from it back in march. They grew far too leggy without enough light and I didn't thin them quick enough. Dumped the entire container on the ground and thinned them, planted them super deep due to how leggy they were they basically couldn't hold themselves up. Assumed they'd die but they grew very fast and are now over 4 feet high and massive. Did have issues with colorado potato beetles but was able to control it and now have a bunch of tomatillos growing! Long story short, I treated them terribly and they refused to die despite my efforts.

Wow, Kevin! Your garden looks amazing!
Can't believe that not too long ago your property was basically empty and lifeless. What a transformation!

It's great hearing each crop is your best one yet. Goes to show that learning a skill like gardening can take time, but it'll always pay off in the end as you improve and learn more.

Kevin your channel inspired me to even start gardening from a non-gardener background thank you for that

I wish I could turn my lawn into a garden but unfortunately "my Dad lives with me, in his house". Lol. I do have plenty of containers going and I am cleaning up the backyard planter so I can plant things. I've already planted Swiss Chard- which I cut down let dry out for at least one month before deciding to plant, and now it is growing :D. I also planted some tomatoes. As well as Pumpkins from Home Depot. I also directly sewed some Pumpkins into the planter, and they just popped up around 2 days ago, *fingers crossed that they grow*. I also tried to revitalize the soil in the far corner of the planter, it was practically dirt- now I have Mint over there, and some Rosemary. I added some mulch and the green is just popping off the brown mulch. I recently bought Grapes from Home Depot so I am going to try and grow those.

Gardening is fun. :)

Kevin,
Think you just named your silver chicken--Sterling. Sounds like a very fine name to me. 😊

I am so glad that your garden is THRIVING. The dry heat has taken a toll on us here in TEXAS. I am looking forward to FALL GARDENING.

Last year I grew tomatillos in large pots with 3-4 in each. They grew tall and spindly with small leaves and small fruit, but very good. This year I planted them in the ground with seeds from the same packet. Holy moly! The plants are thick, the leaves are big and full, with a ton of blossoms/ fruit. They are not tall, but full and beautiful. I cannot get over the difference. Can't wait until the tomatillos are ready to make more salsa verde!

Your neighbors must be regretting paving their driveway after seeing your gorgeous garden with its variety of fruits and vegetables.

Back in the day we kept most raspberries at about waist to chest high. The Royalty variety grows really tall so they would go over our heads.

I’d love an update on how your beans do after you mow them down. My first crop is just about done so maybe I’ll try it, too

Those epic trays are a thing of beauty 😍 the fact that you lifted it without it tearing in a corner makes me even more excited when they are available on your store! Definitely saving money aside for those!

Hey Epic crew, I’ve been wondering about saving seeds for both financial and self-sustainability reasons. I don’t think I’ve ever heard it mentioned on this channel, and Kevin and Jacques always seem to have new seed packets (which I get, buying new seeds is addictive). But if someone wanted to start saving their own seeds for next year, how would they go about doing it, and what would be worth saving vs just buying new seed each year? I’ve been trying to research it a bit and I thought it might make an interesting video.

I love your citrus tree hedge idea. Yes you can plant them close together and treat them as one canopy. That’s what I’m doing. It’s call high density orchard. I’ll grow them at most 6 feet high So I can pick fruit without having a ladder. Possibly will grow to 7 feet & will use small step ladder.
